Change Your Mind - Change Your Chemistry

You know all about the mind-body connection blah blah blah… You might also know that what happens in the mind has an impact on your heart rate, your blood pressure, optimal release of hormones…healthy growth hormones setting the stage for pregnancy or survival hormones that put the brakes on our reproductive system. Through the science of epigenetics we now know that even which genes are turned on or off in the body is impacted by our thoughts and emotions (as well as external influences). And the genes you will potentially pass on to your baby.

Our thoughts and emotions can trigger a chemical cascade - chemicals that keep your body in survival mode instead of 'get ready to conceive' growth mode. Right now you might feel like your mind is thinking you - that you have no control over how you feel and which hormones are optimized. In many ways we are at the mercy of outdated ‘software’ from our cavewoman days that can sabotage the way we think about ourselves, our fertility and others.

Begin by noticing your feelings today especially negative ones - notice what thoughts came just before the feelings. Name the feeling.
